Azumaya is a hot spring ryokan that draws its spring water from Kaminoyama Onsen, which has a 560-year history. The Kaminoyama Onsen has gentle, weakly alkaline spring water that is suitable even for baby’s skin, and with its high moisturizing effects, it is also called “bijin-yu” (beauty bath).
Creative Cuisine Showcasing Local Ingredients
Azumaya’s most representative ingredients are Yamagata Prefecture’s famous “Yonezawa beef” and “Yamagata beef.” The chef carefully selects premium fresh beef and creates various dishes combined with local seasonal ingredients, resulting in unique delicacies exclusive to the Tohoku region.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served buffet-style with over 40 rich varieties. The rice is Yamagata-produced “Tsuyahime.” Its lustrous appearance and rich aroma are the secrets to its popularity. There are also Yamagata-exclusive local delicacies such as “imoni” (stewed taro) and “konnyaku dango” (konjac dumplings).

Azumaya has 13 different types of rooms. Regular guest rooms are divided into three types: Japanese-style, Japanese-Western style, and Western-style. You can choose the room type according to your preference.

Cobalt Blue “Beauty Bath” - A Space to Relax Body and Mind
Azumaya’s hot spring water comes from the beautiful skin bath of Kaminoyama Onsen, known as one of the “Ou Sanrakugou,” displaying a beautiful cobalt blue color. The spring quality is saline spring that promotes blood circulation and enhances metabolic function.
The open-air bath on the top floor offers views of the Zao mountain range and the entire Kaminoyama city. While bathing, you can take in the beautiful scenery - luxurious and pleasant.
In 2017, private baths with granite and cypress wood baths were newly added.
The facility is fully equipped. The first floor offers unlimited white wine. The welcoming lobby has a relaxed and quiet atmosphere where you can rest while overlooking the elegant garden scenery.
